Moss Park is our local campground — just 15 minutes from church, sitting between Lake Mary Jane and Lake Hart about 20 minutes from Orlando International Airport. Expect shaded, spacious grounds, a swimming beach, boat ramps for fishing and paddling, hiking trails, and regular visits from deer and sandhill cranes.
Being so close to home makes this a great, low-pressure pick for anyone new to camping — no long drive, no big commitment, just an easy trial run for the group. It lands over a 3-day weekend, so there's time to actually settle in rather than just passing through.
This trip would also be a little different from our usual setup: instead of everyone booking separate sites, Moss Park lets us reserve one large group site big enough for 6 camps/tents together — so the whole crew stays side by side instead of spread across the campground.
The catch is timing. Orange County Parks & Recreation only opens reservations 40 days before arrival, so we can't actually lock in the group site until closer to early January 2027. Consider this a save-the-date for now — more details (and a firm booking) will be posted here as soon as the reservation window opens.
